Vegan Stir Fry Tofu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 block of firm tofu (pressed and cubed)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for crispy tofu)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • 1 bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 carrot (julienned)
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp stir-fry sauce or teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger (minced)
  • Sesame seeds and green onions (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the tofu: Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into cubes. Toss the cubes in soy sauce, and if you want them crispy, coat with cornstarch.
  2. Cook the tofu: Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tofu from the pan and set it aside.
  3. Stir-fry veggies: In the same pan, heat the remaining oil. Add garlic, ginger, and onions, sauté for about 2 minutes. Then, add bell pepper, carrots, and broccoli. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.
  4. Add tofu and sauce: Return the cooked tofu to the pan, pour in your favorite stir-fry or teriyaki sauce, and mix everything together. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well coated and heated through.
  5. Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
